Now that I’m a family man my fun time is limited!

engaged: What brought you to Oz?
Mayoor: Met my wife here. Had a choice of London or Sydney, I guess Sydney won. I loved the way of life here. I guess I was looking for work/life balance and found it in Sydney. The weather is great here too.

    engaged: Previous career experience
Mayoor: Been in the Telco industry for about 10 years now. I started as a Nokia Service Tech for a T-mobile dealer but loved sales. When an opportunity came up in the sales department I went for it. Within 6 months became the Manager for the Sales and Servicing Department. I worked for them about 18 months when Phones4U came knocking on my door. It was a great opportunity, too good to miss and so I moved there as Sales Manager. Within 6 months I was made Area Manger/GM commanding a group of 8 stores. Also, I would like to add that I was very successful in my role.

When 3 launched in the UK my boss at Phones4U moved over to 3 as the Director of Sales. He wanted me to move to 3 as one of the Area Managers. I took up the challenge and worked there till I moved to Australia in 2005. Since moving to Sydney I worked for an Optus dealer as a BDM. Moved to People Telecom where I started as a BDM and then moved to a Service Delivery role.

While at People Telecom I was approached by a recruitment agency who thought I would fit the role of Wholesale Sales Manager. I applied for the role went through 3 long interviews and the rest is as they History.

engaged: How have you found TIAB so far?
Mayoor: When I joined TIAB I was told I would be attending a 1 week induction training course. My previous experience of an induction programs is having a huge folder given to me and asked to read it for a week, so I did not have high expectations. I was overwhelmed to say the least when I found myself sitting amongst new Service providers and how structured the induction training was.

The great part of being with Telcoinabox is the people I work with have made me feel so welcome and part of the family. I really feel as though I belong here.

    engaged: What makes us different?
Mayoor: You can approach the MD with a new idea and he will genuinely listen. If there is mileage in the idea then Damian will certainly take it on board and look at implementing it.

At Telcoinabox I feel like I am part of the growth strategy of the company helping it succeed. Exciting times.

engaged: What do you hope to achieve in your time here?
Mayoor: I hope to help grow the wholesale division and be a very big part of the next phase of the Company’s development.

engaged: How do you think you will do that?
Mayoor: It all starts from the beginning. We now have very tight guidelines as to who we bring on board as a Service Provider. After that they go through a new training program that is highly structured and very comprehensive. This leads in to the focused account management strategy that is all about growth.

My job is to find the type of new service providers that will fit that model. Not only must they be capable of meeting our very ambitious growth objectives, they must also be a good fit with our culture so that we can move forward as partners.
