When Australian telecommunications were deregulated between 1995 and 1997, two of our key players, Damian Kay and Damien Gould, were already well poised to forecast the opportunities as directors of Universal Telecom, one of Australia’s Top 10 resellers.
Great ideas start in the unlikeliest places. Conversations in the lift, for example. In 2001, our other two key players, Morgan Duncan and Alex Wolfenden, each running successful IT and Recruitment companies in the same building as Universal Telecom, were intrigued when they met Damian and Damien. They liked hearing about ‘expanding opportunities’ and ‘limitless potential of telco in Australia.’ Not shy about introductions, these four entrepreneurs soon found common ground with the mission to develop a groundbreaking idea and business model.
Morgan Duncan’s idea of ‘packaging telecommunications to bring it to the people’ started the ball rolling for a year’s worth of brainstorming, development and business planning among the team. By 2002, Telcoinabox was born.
Developed with goals of solid, sustainable product and service infrastructure; truly responsive management, and an innovative business model, the company soon gained franchisee support across Australia.
Over the last several years, in Australia, Telcoinabox has grown annually by over 180%. Uniquely meeting needs of business-builders and end-users, Telcoinabox consistently finds ways to deliver a full range of the latest low-cost, high quality telecommunications services.

In early 2008, Telcoinabox officially launched into the UK at the request of one of its largest wholesale clients. Telcoinabox worked closely with this customer to provide a bespoke solution for its telecommunications needs.
In under five years, Telcoinabox has grown to become an established company and leader in the telecommunications industry with over 120 telecommunication providers as part of the Telcoinabox network.
